0404 - Summary/Objective
0405 -
040501 - Followed up work at ref SDS 8 line 35, ref SDS 6 line 43.
040502 -
040503 - Developed ideas for the panel discussion on Sunday.
040504 -
040505 -

0408 - Discussion
0409 -
040901 - Advised Ross of current status of planning for Asilomar.
040902 -
040903 - He is getting a new IBM Thinkpad in a week or so that will have Lotus
040904 - Organizer and Lotus Notes. His group has assigned support for Lotus
040905 - Notes, so he is thinking of trying to use it for his personal
040906 - management practice. Additionally, it may be part of the new IBM
040907 - PROFS system.
040908 -
040909 - Ross will be out of town most if the next 3 weeks or so. They are
040910 - going to El Salvador for a wedding in Claudia's family.
040911 -
040912 - He will be in New York in 2 weeks presenting a business plan for a new
040913 - initiative for IBM Credit, which he has been developing the past four
040914 - (4) months. It has evidently passed several intermediate reviews. It
040915 - sounds like that if his idea is approved this would offer Ross the
040916 - chance to have strategic responsibility for a profit center.
040917 -
040918 - I asked him about participating on a panel at Asilomar to demonstrate
040919 - how he uses automation to support his work practice, ref OF 1 line 58.
040920 -
040921 - Ross said he might be available for this and would be interested
040922 - in it. He feels he may be up and running with Lotus Notes by then
040923 - and could demonstrate how IBM is doing with it. Possibly he
040924 - could bring an IBM expert to flesh this out.
040925 -
040926 - He asked me to call him about mid-April to schedule a visit I can
040927 - see what he would demonstrate.
040928 -
040929 -
040930 -
040931 - My idea taking shape for the Sunday panel ref OF 1 line 58, is to have
040932 - people like Morris and Ross, show how executives are using technology.
040933 - SDS will be presented the day before as part of Intel's presentation
040934 - on what the future holds, ref SDS 7 line 318. It will be a prototype
040935 - that requires Communication Metrics support.
040936 -
040937 - This gives attendees the option of trying automation for mainstream
040938 - solutions, or try to become part of the future by reaching out to SDS
040939 - and Communication Metrics. Sterling Jensen would offer another route
040940 - of a Communications Manager without using automation.
040941 -
040942 - We may not have the technology presented as a panel, but rather simply
040943 - let several people show what they do. Actually, it might be a good
040944 - idea to show a panel, and let each application show how they a series
040945 - of things, so attendees would see the range of stuff people are doing
040946 - and how each application has strengths and weaknesses.
040947 -
040948 - There could be three or four 20 minute demonstrations. That would
040949 - take an hour.
040950 -
040951 - Then have an hour long panel to sum up what was presented and answer
040952 - questions, although this may not be needed, if there is a panel the
040953 - prior day. This requires thought.
040954 -
040955 - Then give General Hatch 45 mintues to close the event.
040956 -
040957 -
040958 -
040959 -
