Chair for Welch
Busvan Inv #183307
0404 - ..
0405 - Summary/Objective
0406 -
040601 - Followed up discussion yesterday at ref SDS 7 line 040604, to correct
040602 - failed executive chair, reported at ref SDS 6 line 040603.
040603 -
040604 - Sent Busvan and Cyrus letter, ref DIT 1 line 31, confirming these
040605 - understandings and that the chair seems to be fully repaired.

0409 - Discussion
0410 -
041001 - Michael asked for the Busvan invoice # recorded on ref DRP 1, and I
041002 - advised it is:
041003 -
041004 - 183307 dated 920321
041005 -
041006 - I explained that the date of receipt of the chair was 930403, per
041007 - ref SDS 5 line 36.
041008 -
041009 - He requested our address and phone, and I supplied that
041010 - information.
041011 -
041012 -
041013 - Michael will have their purchasing agent initiate an order for a
041014 - replacement base, which we can install. He expects the order will be
041015 - placed in 2 days and will require 3 weeks to deliver.
041016 -
041017 - I advised the substitute chair I am using is uncomfortable and awkward
041018 - compared to the Cyrus executive chair, so we would like expedited
041019 - delivery. I asked Michael to call me to advise when the order has
041020 - been placed and to confirm the promised delivery date. He will try
041021 - to expedite.
041022 -
041023 -
0411 -
0412 -
0413 - 1607 Michael called back
0414 -
041401 - He said they found a base for this chair in their inventory, and that
041402 - I can come over and pick it up.
041403 -

0417 - 1613 Drove to Busvan
0418 -
041801 - Met Walter. He gave me a replacement chair base and I turned in the
041802 - broken leg from the original base. I observed rust in the shaft of
041803 - the replacement unit. Walter said this has been in inventory for
041804 - some time, however, he expects the rust will not diminish the utility
041805 - or longevity of the unit. On the basis of that representation, I
041806 - accepted it.
041807 -
041808 -
0419 -
0420 -
0421 - 1629 Began installation
0422 -
042201 - It appears the replacement base is missing a part. When I removed the
042202 - original base, it has an element that seems to be welded or is
042203 - otherwise secured in the shaft of the base. I tapped it to try and
042204 - remove it, but it seems frozen. I was concerned about avoiding
042205 - damaging the part by over striking it.
042206 -
042207 -
042208 -
0423 -
0424 -
0425 - 1640 called Busvan for instructions
0426 -
042601 - Asked for Walter. He said we have to tap along the perimeter of the
042602 - shaft firmly but not excessively, until it pops free of the base
042603 - housing element.
042604 -
042605 - I hung up, and tried this technique using a hammer and a heavy duty
042606 - screw driver that seated approximately 1/2" on a segment of the lip of
042607 - the shaft circumference. This effort was eventually successful,
042608 - though I was concerned because there was no discernable movement, but
042609 - it popped loose all at once. The item held fast for first 6 - 10
042610 - strikes, as each blow was moved along the perimeter, but eventually,
042611 - popped out.
042612 -
042613 - Was then able to install the replacement base unit, and the chair
042614 - seems to perform satisfactorily.
