- ..
- 7. Thank you for contacting Hoka ONE ONE!
- ..
- 8. I agree with Savannah that there is no method for stretching
- the shoe's toe box; any attempt would likely damage it.
- However, since you've enjoyed the cushioning and need a more
- accommodating fit, I'd recommend the Bondi 5. It was updated
- with a wide toe box, wider than Stinson 3, and is our most
- cushioned shoe. Stinson 3 is our second most cushioned shoe.

- 2. Dear Noah,
- ..
- 3. Thanks for your letter explaining Hoka Stinson 3 shoes cannot
- be stretched to provide variabile width across forefoot, an
- issue referred by Savannah in earlier correspondence, shown
- [...above, ref SDS 0 DL5P...].
- ..
- 4. On your recommendation to try Bondi shoes, previously Nathaniel
- recommended this model. Purchased a pair on Feb 8th,
- ref SDS 5 H73K, and tried them on Feb 22nd. [...case study on
- 160101 0700. ref SDS 4 B17I...]. Here is the diary on
- results...
- ..
- "Concord 10 mile route #1, did extra 1 mile at the end. Energy
- better today time 1.25 miles 18 minutes. Calves pain level 0
- entire route. Feet hurt wearing new Hoka Bondi shoes, possibly
- tied too tight. After 5 or 6 miles this problem resolved.
- Bondi shoes have thick soles, but seem stiff and hard -
- board-like - with little rebound energy. There is no bounce,
- compared to Hoka Stinson shoes that drive the pace on 11 - 15
- mile hikes. Maintained pace on Clayton and starting Ygnacio
- Valley Road; time to 4.25 miles 71 minutes. Right knee pain
- level 0 starting, after mile 3 pain level 2 rest of route.
- Increased pace going uphill to summit Ygnacio Valley Road.
- Lower back pain level 2 entire route 20% of route. Tried
- sprinting across Cowell about 30 yards, and did not experience
- right knee pain - very positive. Hike today was best for right
- knee - pain level 1 10% of route. Left hip pain level 1 entire
- lap 20% of route. Maintained pace on downhill past summit;
- maintained pace on Oak Grove. Increased pace going uphill on
- Treat. Energy good at end of hike. Feet hurt wearing Bondi
- shoes. Blister very bad on right side of big toe on left foot.
- Metatarsalgia pain level 0 entire route."
- ..
- 5. You can see shoes are critical. The earlier version of Hoka
- Stinson shoes worked perfectly for several years. Width was a
- slight problem, primarily requiring lambs wool to protect
- against blisters from toes being squeezed together. Superior
- cushioning of Stinson shoes was essential to protect against
- metatarsalgia (feet injury) and knee pain. These shoes wore
- out hiking 3K miles per year. As with other shoe manufacturers
- Hoka stopped making shoes that worked perfectly and offered
- Stinson 3 shoes. They have not worked out. Bought various
- sizes up to 2 sizes larger to get wider dimension across
- forefoot. This hasn't been effective, so inquired about
- stretching. Your report today, seems to close the book on that
- idea.
- ..
- 6. I was told last June or so, that in October 2016, Hoka would
- start selling Stinson 3's with variable width, but that didn't
- happen. New Stinson 3's were available in September with
- improved heal lining, but not variable width. So, hoped
- stretching might work.
