230911 - ..
230912 - Took Highway 24 to 580 to 80, and crossed the Oakland San Fracisco
230913 - Bay Bridge to Highway 101; South of San Francisco took 280 to 85 in
230914 - Cupertino. Got off on Stevens Creek very near where we used to live
230915 - in the Parish house.
230917 - ..
230918 - Took Stevens Creek South past highway 9, to Finch. Turned right and
230919 - drove a block to Cupertino High School. Arrived about 1215, during
230920 - lunch.
230922 - ..
230923 - Drove past where the Burger Pit used to be. There is still a
230924 - restaruant, but it seems to be Armenian, specializing in some kind of
230925 - bread.
230927 - ..
230928 - Actually, the entire area is barely recognizable.
230930 - ..
230931 - Parked in the lot next to the boys locker room and the swimming pool.
230932 - Planned to work in the Cafeteria, but it is under construction, along
230933 - with the entire student quad area. The principal's office is also
230934 - being remodeled. Went into the Library. It has converted into
230935 - temporary offices for the principal and staff.
230937 - ..
230938 - Visited with the principal's secretary, who spoke yesterday by
230939 - telephone. 130926 0941, ref SDS 7 OP6I
230941 - ..
230942 - The principal was in a meeting, and so did not have time to say
230943 - hello.
230945 - ..
230946 - The admin assistant graduated from Cupertino in 1973. She did not
230947 - remember Richard Popejoy coaching the wrestling team, and further she
230948 - did not remember Rob teaching at Cupertino High School. She did
230949 - remember Jay Lawson.
230951 - ..
230952 - The admin assistant said adults cannot walk through the grounds of the
230953 - high school while school is in session, which ends at 1530. At first,
230954 - she offered to provide a temporary badge, but then seemed to insist
230955 - that this would be not be a good idea, and so did not get a temporary
230956 - pass.
230958 - ..
230959 - Explained wanted to see the kids during lunch, walking to class, and
230960 - see them in classrooms getting educated to earn the title of citizens.
230962 - ..
230963 - Thanked the Admin assistant for taking a moment to visit.
230965 - ..
230966 - Walked into the boys locker room. It looked the same, except the
230967 - lockers are red instead of the original grey. Strangely, the locker
230968 - room was completely empty, perhaps due to lunch. Still would have
230969 - expected some activity at least by staff.
230971 - ..
230972 - Walked down the hallway. A door was open to the Exercise room.
230973 - Looked like a bunch of girls all laying on the mats, and appeared to
230974 - be resting, or sleeping, rather than exercising. There were 2
230975 - teachers, and 1 or 2 students sitting at a table. When I stepped into
230976 - the room to see notices on the walls, one of the teaches asked if I
230977 - needed help.
230979 - ..
230980 - Explained spending a lot of time in this room 50 years ago. Just
230981 - wanted to take a quick look to remember by gone days.
230983 - ..
230984 - Fun looking into the Library and seeing so many kids in quiet focus
230985 - reading. Remembered using the Libary, first encountered Scientific
230986 - American, Newsweek and Time magazines here.
230988 - ..
230989 - Walked out to the fields to check the new Football stadium.
230991 - ..
230992 - Looks like the orighinal grass on all the practice fields has been
230993 - replaced with artificial truf. The field is now marked off for soccer
230994 - and what might be field hocky, or lacross. The varsity football team
230995 - did not practice on this area when we attended during the early 60s.
230996 - There is a another bigger field on the West side of the tennis courts
230997 - and next to the main street, Finch road. The basefall diamond is also
230998 - in this area. During wrestling season, while the team ran laps around
230999 - the Exercise room, I would come out and run 1 or laps around the
231000 - entire outdoor field area, just to make sure conditioning was where it
231001 - should be, about 2 - 4 miles.
231003 - ..
231004 - Joe Anderson and I ran this route the summer after school ended, and
231005 - he was training for decatholon events. Years later, Ron Useldinger,
231006 - our wrestling coach from 1959 to 1962, would run this same route with
231007 - me very occassionally, when we got together in the early 70s. It was
231008 - fun seeing these facilities again, and nice to see improvements.
231010 - ..
231011 - They have an impressive weight room. Did not go inside, but it seems
231012 - big and comprehensive.
231014 - ..
231015 - Walked over to the pool.
231017 - ..
231018 - About this time, a teacher came out of a nearby building and asked if
231019 - I need help?
231021 - ..
231022 - Explained checking changes to the High School the past 50 years.
231024 - ..
231025 - He introduced himself, as Chris Oswald.
231027 - ..
231028 - Introduced myself, as having called him yesterday about the football
231029 - game later today, reported on 130926 0941. ref SDS 7 WZ6O,
231031 - ..
231032 - Chris took a moment to talk. He played quarterback in high school.
231033 - This is his 4th year as coach of the football team.
231035 - ..
231036 - Asked how the team is doing this year, just a few weeks into the
231037 - season?
231039 - ..
231040 - Chris said they are 3 and 0 - off to a good start. They were 7-3 and
231041 - 1 last year, their best showing the last 10 years, so this has been a
231042 - big turn around.
231044 - ..
231045 - Asked Chris about attendance?
231047 - ..
231048 - He advised that at one time attendance dropped below 1,000, but in
231049 - recent years has increased to above 2,000.
231051 - ..
231052 - Thanked Chris for allowing Rob and me to throw on the sidelines before
231053 - the game, discussed yesterday by telephone. ref SDS 7 C49G Today,
231054 - Chris said he will throw a few passes with us, as well.
231056 - ..
231057 - Since cannot stay on campus until after 1530, decided to explore and
231058 - find Cicero's where everyone will meet about 1600, and also to find
231059 - the houses where we lived in Garden Gate.
231061 - ..
231062 - Asked a woman picking up her daughter in the parking lot, where
231063 - Cicero's is located. She gave complicated directions, but eventually
231064 - said Cicero's is located on Bollinger next to a Safeway store. I
231065 - remember Bollinger is off Highway 9, so felt I could find Cicero's.
231067 - ..
231068 - Took Steven's Creek back to Highway 9, now called DeAnza Road, and
231069 - turned left, going West. Bollinger is about a mile from Stevens
231070 - Creek. The only thing that looks the same is Yamagi's Nursery.
231071 - Wonderful that it survived the past 50 years. Turned South onto
231072 - Bollinger, and found Cicero's in a shopping complex near Safeway.
231074 - ..
231075 - Visited briefly with a waitress in Cicero's. She graduated from
231076 - Cupertino High School 2 years ago, and so is 20 years old. Strange
231077 - that she remembered my name coming up from time to time during her
231078 - years at CHS. She was aware of the Home Coming game this evening, and
231079 - the pre-game event here at Cicero's for the class of 1963, and
231080 - scheduled at 1600.
231082 - ..
231083 - Left Cicero's and drove back to Steven's Creek, then to Stelling, past
231084 - the Community Center, where the reunion dinner will occur tomorrow,
231085 - and drove on into Garden Gate. The house where we lived on Dunbar has
231086 - been remodeled significantly, but still shows the shape of the garage
231087 - that dad turned into a bedroom. Most of the homes have been
231088 - completely torn down and rebuilt.
231090 - ..
231091 - The house where the Welch family first lived on Glenco has been torn
231092 - down and not replaced. There is just a vacant lot where we lived for
231093 - a year or so until mom and dad were married, and we consolidated two
231094 - families to live a few houses down the street on Dunbar. Seems that
231095 - after we left there was nothing more that could be done with the land.
231096 - Still remember well, Kathleen being in charge of the fmaily at about
231097 - age 12. She would chase us kids with a broom to do our chores, or
231098 - stop tearing up the place. One day stephanie was goading her older
231099 - sister about something. She took off out of the house running down
231100 - the street not expecting Kathleen to chase her, because Kath was not
231101 - generally athletic, and was old enough then to worry about maintaining
231102 - appearances. None-the-less on this one occassion, Kath chased
231103 - Stephanie down on Glenco. Steph was really surprised.
231105 - ..
231106 - Drove down Green Leaf to the Elementary school built by White
231107 - Construction, where Pat worked at that time in the mid-50s. He drove
231108 - down Stelling to work in Palo Alto, and so would pick Rob and I up and
231109 - drop us off at Cupertino Junior High. In about 1957, Rob and I needed
231110 - materials for a fort we were were building in the backyard of the
231111 - house on Dunbar Street. About mid-night, we swiped 2 sheets of
231112 - plywood from the construction site at the elementary school, and
231113 - carried them through Garden Gate back to the house on Dunbar. They
231114 - were too big for us to carry alone, so we had to make two trips. When
231115 - a car would turn the corner on Stelling and start down the street of
231116 - our route home, we through the plywood on a lawn, and hid behind
231117 - bushes until danger passed.
231119 - ..
231120 - Drove down to Stelling to Homestead, and turned left out past
231121 - Homestead High School, where Ron Useldinger, and later Rob taught and
231122 - coached.
231124 - ..
231125 - Drove further down Homestead to Cupertino Junior High School, where
231126 - Rob and I attended 7th and 8th grade. The fields where we played
231127 - football and baseball were still the same.
231129 - ..
231130 - Went down the dip on Homestead, but could not make out Foothill Swim
231131 - club, where Rob used to ride me on his bike handle bars, and where I
231132 - learned to swim. It may have been removed to make way for other
231133 - projects. Actually, looking at the map, Highway 85 that goes from 280
231134 - to 101, appears to run through where Foothill Swim Club was located.
231136 - ..
231137 - Today, I took 85 to West Fremont Avenue, and drove past Fremont High
231138 - School, where Kathleen and later Stephanie graduated. I think Bonnie,
231139 - who lived in Monte Vista up the street from us, also graduated from
231140 - Fremont the same year as Stephanie. Turned right on Highway 9, also
231141 - called Sunnyvale Saratoga Avenue, and also called DeAnza Avenue now.
231142 - Drove back to Steven Creek, and then back to Stelling.
231144 - ..
231145 - Decided to stay in the Community Center on Stelling until the group
231146 - gathers at Cicero's at 1600. Tomorrow the dinner will be at the
231147 - Community Center.
231149 - ..
231150 - There was a table and chair close to an electrical outlet for powering
231151 - the notebook computer, c16.
231153 - ..
231154 - The Community Center is near where our house used to be, the Old
231155 - Parish place on Steven Creek. I could have been sitting and working,
231156 - where out kitchen table was located. Dad would be up at 0400 planning
231157 - his work day using pencil and yellow pad, listing materials, workmen,
231158 - and subcontractors on his various projects.
231160 - ..
231161 - This entire area on the corner of Stelling and Steven Creek, is now
231162 - Cupertino Memorial Park and Sports Center. I guess if they really
231163 - needed to tear down the historical site of the oldest home in
231164 - Cupertino, the Parish place, then building a memorial park and sports
231165 - center is good use. Rob and I, David and Eddie played a lot of sports
231166 - in this little corner of the world from 1959 until 1963. Built up our
231167 - legs running in soft soil plowed regularly for orchards of plumbs,
231168 - cherries and apricots. We also built a fort here. It was elevated,
231169 - up in the air. Don't remember if it was in a tree, or we used the
231170 - poles intended to support tree limbs heavily laden with fruit. Do
231171 - remmber Uncle Pat climbing up to check us out, and later Aunt Barbara
231172 - climbing up to join our little group on rare visit, when they lived in
231173 - Virginia. Rita was in the 7th grade on that visit. So, glad this is
231174 - now a memorial park. There are a lot of great memories from our time
231175 - there.
231176 -
231178 - ..
2312 -
2313 -
2314 - 1534
2315 -
231501 - Sent letter to Rob, with copy to Sally and Kathy, saying...
231502 -
231503 - 1. Subject: Re: Football- Friday
231504 - Date: Fri, 27 Sep 2013 16:08:07 -0700
231510 - ..
231511 - 2. Rob,
231513 - ..
231514 - 3. My cell is out due to moisture damage from hike last week,
231515 - reported on 130922 1017. ref SDS 4 OC5I
231517 - ..
231518 - 4. Stopped by the school [...reported above, ref SDS 0 TM81, and
231519 - met the football coach earlier today, Chris Oswald. He is
231520 - looking forward to throwing the ball with us, before the game
231521 - today. [...reported above, ref SDS 0 JE54...]. They were like
231522 - 2-9, the year before he was hired, 3 years ago. Last year they
231523 - were 7-3-1, and off to a good start this year at 3-0.
231525 - ..
231526 - 5. Chris said at one time enrollment dropped below 1,000, but is
231527 - now back to over 2000 this year, reported above, ref SDS 0
231528 - DZ9M, about what we had.
231530 - ..
231531 - 6. Drove into Garden Gate to the house on Dunbar. All of the
231532 - homes have been remodeled. Our house is still there and looks
231533 - a lot different, except you can still tell where dad remodeled
231534 - the garage into a bedroom for mom and him. ref SDS 0 WI9F
231536 - ..
231537 - 7. Right now, I'm hanging out at the community center on Stelling,
231538 - and where the reunion dinner will be tomorrow. They have
231539 - public wifi, so I can communicate. Incidentally, I might be
231540 - sitting not too far from where the Parish house was located.
231541 - Actually, I could be about where our kitchen table was. Kind
231542 - of strange.
231544 - ..
231545 - 8. Sending a copy to Sally to tell mom that the only thing in the
231546 - entire area that seems the same is the Church, where she sang,
231547 - and hauled us kids on Sunday, at least for awhile.
231549 - ..
231550 - 9. Will stop by Cicero's on Bollinger Road, a little later to
231551 - visit with folks. You may know this, but Cicero's is next to
231552 - Safeway, and directly across the street from Hyde Junior High,
231553 - where we went to recreation a few times during summers, way
231554 - back when.
231556 - ..
231557 - 10. Also drove down to grandmother's house on Seagull Way off
231558 - highway 9. It has been remodeled, but still recognizable where
231559 - dad added a 2nd story.
231561 - ..
231562 - 11. In any case, we are on for 6pm with Andy, the Vice Principle,
231563 - at the tennis courts. He will take us into the new football
231564 - stadium and onto the field.
231566 - ..
231567 - 12. See you soon.
231569 - ..
231570 - 13. Rod
231571 -
231572 -
231574 - ..
2316 -
2317 -
2318 - 1610
2319 -
231901 - Before returning to Cicero's, drove out to Steven's Creek Dam. Went
231902 - North on Steven's Creek and was amazed to see Paul and Eddie's bar
231903 - across the tracks in Monte Vista. It was open when we lived here 50
231904 - years ago, and had the reputation of being a tough place.
231906 - ..
231907 - Could not figure out the street where Joe lived. Wanted to drive by
231908 - there. Bonnie lived near there also.
231910 - ..
231911 - The big dip was still there. Did not seem as big as when Rob and I
231912 - used to ride our bikes down, and pumped fast for enough speed to get
231913 - up the other side.
231915 - ..
231916 - Drove further and found a sign for the dam. Did not remember the name
231917 - of the street, so the sign was a big help. The road to the dam began
231918 - to bring memories. One summer in about 1955, the family was at the
231919 - dam, and somehow I fell in the water. Dad came to the rescue pulling
231920 - me out just in time.
231922 - ..
231923 - Later, Rob and I both had bikes and rode down the spillway, even
231924 - though the park rangers posted signs against this. We saw the older
231925 - kids doing it, and so tried. Somehow we both made it down without
231926 - breaking our necks, and then had a great summer tempting fate again
231927 - and again.
231929 - ..
231930 - Most startling was low water in the reservoir. Hopefully, this year
231931 - will bring enough rain to replenish the reservoir.
231933 - ..
231934 - Drove back to Cicero's to visit with the reunion for awhile before
231935 - the Home Coming football game at 1800.
231937 - ..
231938 - It was now very crowded with former classmates.
231940 - ..
231941 - Met Alexa. She asked my name, and produced a name tag. Thanked Alexa
231942 - again for wonderful work organizing the reunion, and coordinating all
231943 - of the activities, cited previously in the letter to her on 130924
231944 - 1713. ref SDS 6 DD9H
231946 - ..
231947 - Commended sending biographies received on 130923 1108. ref SDS 5 Y25H
231948 -
231949 - [On 130928 1800 Diana Plapp, another member of reunion
231950 - committee, greeted and provide name tag on arriving for
231951 - reunion dinner at Cupertino Community Center. ref SDS 09
231952 - 1H9F
231954 - ..
231955 - Found the pizza table, and took a small piece.
231957 - ..
231958 - Met a few classmates. Was great seeing Bill Lyon. He somehow looks
231959 - the same, and comes across as remembered with a feeling of command and
231960 - competence, without pretension. In brief conversation, Bill explained
231961 - living in Connecticut and in electronics sales. Didn't ask if that is
231962 - computers.
231964 - ..
231965 - Said hello to Dennis Watenabe. Wanted to do this because we were good
231966 - friends in the 4th or 5th grades. I thought it was at Doyle
231967 - elementary school in Rancho Rinconada. Dennis said it was at Collins,
231968 - correcting my error for 50 years.
231970 - ..
231971 - Met Jeanie Fiester. She too looked very much the same - beautiful as
231972 - ever, and in great shape.
231974 - ..
231975 - Sat with Rob and Joyce. Rob introduced someone we went to school with
231976 - and who I didn't know at the time. He explained that after graduation
231977 - in 1963, this student's dad gave both his son and Rob summer jobs
231978 - stringing electrical lines for the first cable television system in
231979 - Walnut Creek Concord area.
231981 - ..
231982 - Sort of good news. Rob said that he is not attending the camping
231983 - event with Brian afterall. They were supposed to drive up the
231984 - mountains this evening, after Rob and Joyce attend the Home Coming
231985 - football game, per telecon yesterday on 130926 0941, ref SDS 7 PW6H,
231986 - and shown in the letter to Marsha later that day. ref SDS 7 0L61
231987 - Rob indicated that Brian simply changed his mind, and decided not to
231988 - go.
231990 - ..
231991 - Asked if this means that he and Joyce will attend the dinner tomorrow
231992 - at 1800? Rob said they will likely miss it, because Joyce has a
231993 - commitment to play in a tennis tournament, and so he will play as
231994 - well.
231996 - ..
231997 - Glad I came to this event. Very pleasant being remembered still after
231998 - all these years, seemingly by most everyone, because of visibility on
231999 - campus from sports. That is part what reunions are all about to see
232000 - and remember former icons that connect the present with the past.
232001 -
232002 -
232003 -
232005 - ..
2321 -
2322 -
2323 - 1745
2324 -
232401 - Reminded Rob we have to meet Vice Principal Andy Walczak, at the
232402 - tennis courts next to the football stadium, at 1800. Rob said he
232403 - will be there.
232405 - ..
232406 - Drove back to the high school. Parked on the main street in front of
232407 - the school on Finch Avenue, so it will be easy to get away later this
232408 - evening.
232410 - ..
232411 - Walked through the school, and found the tennis courts.
232412 -
232414 - ..
2325 -
2326 -
2327 - 1802
2328 -
232801 - There were 2 girls, students, taking payment for tickets to enter the
232802 - stadium.
232804 - ..
232805 - Asked if Vice Principal Walczak had asked for me. One of the girl's
232806 - said no.
232808 - ..
232809 - After about 10 minutes, neither Robby nor the Vice Principal arrived.
232810 - I asked one of the girl's how much tickets cost for the game?
232812 - ..
232813 - The student asked if I am part of 50th class reunion? I said yes.
232814 - She let me enter without payment. Thanked her and entered the
232815 - Cupertino High School Football Stadium, where I had played 50 years
232816 - ago.
232818 - ..
232819 - The teams were already warming up on the field. Cupertino was facing
232820 - Overfelt this evening.
232822 - ..
232823 - Walked across the track and onto the stadium grass, actually
232824 - artificial turf, but much improved from decades ago, also, noted above
232825 - when I was here in the afternoon. ref SDS 0 L54H
232827 - ..
232828 - Watching the teams going through drills, Cupertino seemed sharper,
232829 - indicating a good chance their unbeaten record will remain intact.
232831 - ..
232832 - Coach Oswald was engaged with another coach surverying his team doing
232833 - drills. He jogged over to say hello. Chris asked about Rob, and I
232834 - said neither he nor the Vice Principal showed up at the gate, so plans
232835 - are turning out about normal for the vicisstudes of life. The coach
232836 - smiled and said don't worry, he will pull away in a few minutes and
232837 - toss a few passes, as we discussed earlier, per above. ref SDS 0 LA6N
232839 - ..
232840 - Saw Rob and Joyce sitting in the stands, so went over and asked Rob
232841 - about joining me on the field. He begged off citing several tennis
232842 - injuries to legs and shoulder. Joyce was adament that Rob should not
232843 - be throwing a football. Explained the coach offered to throw with us,
232844 - and asked Joyce if she would take a few pictures to memorialize our
232845 - efforts.
232847 - ..
232848 - Went back onto the field. The coach ran over with a football. We
232849 - threw maybe 5 or 6 passes, and then he had to get back to preparing
232850 - his team for the game. Actually, it takes about 10 passes to loosen
232851 - up the shoulder and develop muscle memory for throwing a football, so
232852 - we didn't really accomplish the objective. Still, thanked Chris for
232853 - taking a few moments, and wished him good luck in the game.
232855 - ..
232856 - He was very kind, saying it was an honor throwing with a "legend" at
232857 - cupertino High.
232858 -
232859 - [On 130928 1800 on entering Community Center for 50th
232860 - reunion dinner, Diana Plapp produced Cupertino Currier from
232861 - 1963, i.e., 50 years ago; there was a picture of Welch
232862 - ready for football, along side a story of the team having
232863 - just won a game. ref SDS 10 MY8L
232865 - ..
232866 - [On 131112 2116 letter to Kami Tomberlain, Principal
232867 - Cupertino High School, with copy to Andy Walczak, Vice
232868 - Principal, ref SDS 12 436N, submits record on 50th reunion
232869 - class of 1963, and thanks current administration for
232870 - hosting reunion at Home Coming football game on 130927.
232871 - ref SDS 8 VM92
232873 - ..
232874 - Would liked to have thrown a few balls, and shook hands with the
232875 - current quarterback, who wore #5. He looked sharp in practice,
232876 - hitting receivers on the break. That would have made a good
232877 - generational image reaching across half a century. Realizing pre-game
232878 - warm ups are closely planned, did not bring this up.
232880 - ..
232881 - Walked across the track, and into the stands now beginning to fill.
232882 - Joyce had saved a seat for me. Saw Bill Lyon on the seat above and a
232883 - ways away, so we waved hello.
232885 - ..
232886 - Enjoyed visiting with Joyce and Rob.
232888 - ..
232889 - Joyce sat between us. She feels Rob's tennis injuries that prevented
232890 - throwing the football this evening, per above, ref SDS 0 343L, should
232891 - heal further before doing more tennis. Discussed attending the dinner
232892 - tomorrow. Joyce was an angel encouraging Rob to forego the tennis
232893 - tournament, and instead attend the reunion dinner. Rob seemed to feel
232894 - his injuries may heal enough for he and Joyce to play mixed doubles
232895 - tomorrow.
232896 -
232897 - [On 130928 1017 Rob called and advised he and Joyce will
232898 - attend reunion dinner; wants to meet at 1730 to walk the
232899 - grounds of Cupertino Community Center, where reunion dinner
232900 - will be held, and remember the same area where we lived 50
232901 - years ago. ref SDS 9 Y25H
232903 - ..
232904 - Jay Lawson arrived shortly. Commended Jay on looking well and
232905 - energetic, despite suffering Multiple Sclorosis, which caused him to
232906 - take early retirement from a very distinguished teaching and coaching
232907 - career at CHS.
232909 - ..
232910 - Jay related being pleased and thankful to enjoy good health relying on
232911 - diet and exercise, while eschewing medications. His doctor at first
232912 - objected. But lately, seeing how well Jay is doing, the doctor has
232913 - come around to support Jay's determination to rely on a healthy
232914 - lifestyle, that so far enables him to avoid calamitous side effects
232915 - from medications commonly prescribed for MS.
232917 - ..
232918 - Explained similar attempts to control cholosterol with diet and
232919 - exercise rather than take medications that bring short term benefits
232920 - and severe, chronic side effects.
232922 - ..
232923 - Jay said he talked to Assistant Principal Andy Walczak, who asked Jay
232924 - to convey appologies for not showing up at the gate, per above,
232925 - ref SDS 0 0T46, as previously planned in his letter yesterday on
232926 - 130926 0941. ref SDS 7 0280 Jay explained that Andy encoutered some
232927 - kind of school management emergency that prevented him showing up.
232928 - Jay further indicated Andy is a terrific school administrator
232929 - assisting the principal, and counseling students.
232931 - ..
232932 - Jay appreciated getting a copy of the letter sent to Andy yesterday
232933 - confirming plans for today, reported on 130926 0941. ref SDS 7 4E6J
232934 - He reported getting lost in the links, but found the ideas on
232935 - Communication Metrics absorbing and engaging.
232937 - ..
232938 - Talked briefly about Mr Pittman being a counselor "at large" for the
232939 - class of 1963. Jay indicated he sees or contacts Mr Pittman, and that
232940 - he is doing well. He will say hello to Mr Pittman for me.
232941 -
232942 - [On 130928 1800 at 50th reunion dinner Mr Pittman
232943 - remembered for counseling to take typing, which years later
232944 - proved to be very helpful. ref SDS 10 M24H

232948 - distribute on 50th reunion class of 1963, reported 130928
232949 - 1800, ref SDS 10 0001, and sent copy to Jay asking him to
232950 - notify Mr Pittman. ref SDS 11 YY4F
232952 - ..
232953 - During the game, the announcer notified the crowd about the 50th
232954 - reunion for the Class of 1963. Bill was mentioned as former Class
232955 - President, who would participate in crowing of Home Coming Queen
232956 - during Half Time. My name was also announced for something. Everyone
232957 - said to stand up, so I did and waved. This was not expected, since I
232958 - had not planned to attend the game, reported to Alexa in the letter on
232959 - 130817 2202, ref SDS 2 KT5S, and later to Rob as discussed in the
232960 - calls yesterday on 130926 0941. ref SDS 7 LS5L
232962 - ..
232963 - The teams on the field battled back and forth, with Cupertino spending
232964 - most of the first half at the Overfelt end of the field, but unable to
232965 - score. Finally, just before the half ended, Cupertino pushed across a
