-
- Getting out of bed early this morning about 0300, somehow banged left
- foot into the footboard bed post. Since the footboard itself was
- removed to make more space in the room, and installed for the bed in
- the other bedroom, the remaining metal fastenning bed frame is sharp.
- ..
- This cut the top of the left foot instep about 2" above the toes.
- ..
- It hurt, but since it was dark, went back to bed and slept another
- few hours.
- ..
- When daylight arrived OA 0700, the cut seemed slightly swelled and
- open, but did not bleed alot.
- ..
- Hurt to walk initially, when the foot rolls up from heel to the ball
- of the foot. It therefore presents a substantial risk to Half Dome
- hike scheduled for Wednesday, 130918, planned originally on 121024
- 0855. ref SDS 1 FV5G Hiking Half Dome seems likely to cause
- significant stress to the instep that can tear and expand the wound
- with increased bleeding.
- ..
- This would be tragic disappointment after all the planning, expense,
- and training the past year to prepare, reported beginning on 121024
- 0855. ref SDS 1 3S7I
- ..
- Since Ross reported a business problem caused him to cancel joining
- the Half Dome hike, shown in the record a few days ago on 130914 1340,
- ref SDS 3 FQ9J, if this wound doesn't heal, the entire project will
- have failed.
- ..
- Applied medication and a bandage.
- ..
- About 1045, we left for San Francisco to drive across the new bridge
- section from Oakland to Treasure Island.
- ..
- Removed bandage and put on socks and shoes, but did not tie the shoes.
- ..
- On arriving in San Francisco, we parked near the Golden Gateway. Tied
- the left shoe loosely, and then walked around town for about an hour
- covering perhaps 2 miles.
- ..
- Fortunately, did not feel a thing. This is a positive signal may be
- okay for hiking on Wednesday.
