Subject: | Com Metrics tricks and skills |
Dear Bernie,
Thanks for sources on collaboration skills and resources in your letter today.
You say a Technographer facilites real-time gathering and synthesis of information that takes place during a computer-augmented meeting. Sounds like these same skills would help non-computer aided activity. Don't we need to augment everything?
Concerning your question about how the Welch system works, see POIMS.
Were you able to review the report by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on their pilot test of Communcation Metrics that explains support for collaboration?
You asked about skills to implement Com Metrics. Skills and tasks vary in degree for each setting. The list seems best summed up as an intelligence role; however, since that function has not been accepted for daily management, the following works pretty well...
Application of skills, or possibly a better formulation is the
perspective, needed for accomplishing Com Metrics,
was reviewed in detail on February 4, 1995.
Discussion with Doug on December 22 shows the need for pilot testing new capabilities. We also need to find the right mix of skills and technology for enabling market acceptance. I would be interested in hearing your ideas about this opportunity to help doctors, lawyers, engineers, executives, scientists, indeed all knowledge workers, do a better job of knowledge work.
Sincerely,
THE WELCH COMPANY
